Our local newspaper, The Huntsville Times, publishes police reports almost every day. While I feel bad for the people who have items stolen, some of the reports are downright hilarious. Sometimes I wonder what people are thinking when they call in stolen items.
Case in point:
North precinct
• A burglar broke into a business at 2009 Max Luther Drive overnight Wednesday and stole $300 cash.
• A bottle of Hennessy worth $35 was stolen from a store at 3014 N. Memorial Parkway at 10:15 a.m. Thursday.
• A burglar broke into a home in the 2100 block of Evans Avenue early Thursday and stole an unknown amount of cash.
• More than 2,100 gallons of fuel was reported stolen from a gas station in the 2000 block of U.S. 72 East between Oct. 20 and Thursday.
• A burglar broke into a home in the 2600 block of Academy Drive at noon Thursday and stole an undisclosed amount of cash.
• A case of Budweiser beer and an in-dash TV were stolen from a 1987 green Oldsmobile Cutlass on Mt. Vernon Road overnight Thursday.
• A burglar broke into a home in the 4500 block of Bonnell Drive overnight Wednesday and stole a 42-inch TV worth $1,200.
• A burglar broke into a home in the 3200 block of Delia Lane between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Friday and stole a PlayStation, a 56-inch flat-screen TV, a checkbook and a pair of size 13 Jordan shoes.

• A Dell laptop, a PDA and a web cam were stolen from a car at a University Drive restaurant early Wednesday.
• Police recovered a 1997 BMW 328IS on Bob Wallace Avenue at Mirabeau Drive at 3:30 a.m. Friday. The car had been reported stolen in Albertville.
• A king-size sheet set, two sets of pillow cases and a waffle iron were stolen late Thursday from a 2003 red Kia Spectra at 2404 Leeman Ferry Road.
• A 1997 maroon Isuzu Rodeo was stolen on Sewall Drive between 7 and 11 a.m. Thursday.
• A 32-inch TV worth $1,499, a PlayStation 3 console worth $599 and a DVD of "Boondock Saints" worth $19 were stolen from a home in the 4000 block of Sewall Drive.
Sounds like someone is getting breakfast in bed!
I mean really, are these people actually reporting these things as stolen, or are they by-products of worse crimes, like car or house break-ins? I hope it's the latter case!
