Brunch at Palo

On our "At Sea" day, Marc and I went to brunch at Palo. Palo is an adults-only restaurant that requires reservations. When our reservation window came open, Palo was all booked. We were really disappointed, because that was one of the things that Marc really wanted to do while we were on the cruise. Lucky for us, a reservation came open a couple of weeks before we set sail!

We each sampled around the stations and ordered some delicious entrees. I also went back for another dessert plate. Yum! If we ever take another Disney cruise, Palo will definitely be on our to-do list!

Toy Story the Musical

After dinner at Triton's, we went to see Toy Story the Musical. It's amazing how much detail Disney puts into these performances. We loved all the neat costumes!

Dinner at Triton's

Our second dinner on the cruise was at Triton's. It was an underwater-themed restaurant that featured Ariel and Triton, her father. It was absolutely beautiful and very relaxing.

First, we ordered drinks. Marc ordered some sort of wine, and our server was nice enough to bring me a Shirley Temple. Such sweet goodness!

We started off with appetizers. Marc ordered escargot made with chopped mushrooms and garlic butter, and I ordered chilled with a lemon dill dressing. My shrimp was very good, and Marc said his escargot was delicious. (There's no way I was going to try them.)

For our entrees, Marc ordered the lobster macaroni. It was made with lobster, gruyere cheese, and a cheese sauce tossed with pasta. I really wanted to order the same dish, but I decided to stay away from cheese and cream sauces that night. Instead, I ordered a roasted chicken breast and a plain potato. It was much more appetizing than it looked.

By the time for dessert, I was feeling a little deprived. So, Marc and I ordered two desserts to share. Marc ordered Triton's Sweet Temptations, which was a trio of creme brulee, chocolate mousse, and a praline pastry. I ordered the brioche with toffee sauce. Both were delightful!

Marko, our server, wasn't sure that we ordered the right dessert. He had suggested another dessert, which we decided to go against. So, he brought one out for us to "sample." It was the Grand Marnier souffle with vanilla creme sauce.

Can you say Heavenly?!?! Oh.my.word. It was the culinary highlight of the cruise. Marko was right, and we thanked him again and again! He ended up bringing this same dessert to us at the end of each dinner after that. So good!

A Quick Trip into Nassau

After a night of 18-foot waves, we arrived in Nassau, The Bahamas. We felt the ship as it was docking in the port, but waited until they were finished to check out the view. This is what we saw from our verandah:

The view was amazing! The water was so clear and blue. It was extremely windy that day, as you can tell from the whitecaps and bent palm trees. But it was still breathtaking! In the distance, we could see Atlantis. From what we saw, it looked like a beautiful resort.

Marc and I had a wonderful breakfast at Parrot Cay, then went to the DisUnplugged Podcast that was being taped live. We saw some notable Disney people, including Jodi Benson, who was the voice of Ariel in The Little Mermaid.

Then, we decided to check out Nassau. We didn't go far into port, because it was a little chilly and very windy. We went over to the dock right in front of the Wonder to take some pictures of the ship. After getting splashed with huge waves that were hitting the dock, we decided that probably wasn't the best idea.

We visited the Straw Market to check things out. Of course, there were lots of items made from straw, and they also had lots of jewelry. In the historical area of the market, they had a Junkanoo costume that you could "try on."

Nassau was very colorful! All of the buildings were painted in bright, summery colors. I'm glad we were brave enough to venture off the ship, because it was definitely something to see!

After spending a couple of hours off the ship, Marc and I were cold and ready to head back. The wind was blowing a mist onto the dock, so we were a little damp by that point.

It continued to be so windy during the day that the captain of the ship decided to stay docked in the port until the next morning. Since we were supposed to arrive at Castaway Cay the next morning, the captain decided to change our Castaway Cay day with our At Sea day. However, there was still a very good chance that we wouldn't be able to dock at Castaway Cay when we arrived there, due to the high winds.
